Kidsgrove Scouts shock DCA Championship Audience

September 4, 2010... DCE/DCUK's Kidsgrove Scouts won over a large audience with a strong brass sound and excellent overall performance in the 2010 DCA World Championships Preliminary Competition in Rochester, New York. In weather more like that of England, cold, windy and wet, they surprised everyone with a final preliminary competition score of 89.238 - increased almost 6 full points from the previous week in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This placed them above both Atlanta Corps, CorpsVets and Alliance as well as 6 time DCA world champion Bushwackers, San Francisco Renegades and Racine Kilties. They were just behind the famed Hawthorne Caballeros. Undefeated Reading Buccaneers remain in first despite a strong challenge by both Minnesota Brass (2nd) and Rochester's home town Empire Statesmen (3rd).

Tonight, Kidsgrove gets to enjoy the fruit of their success in finals competition and after 13 days in the USA will fly home tomorrow morning with memories of a fantastic journey that saw them perform proud for all of Europe. We in the United States congratulate them and thank them for such a memorable performance and wish them well for the rest of the season. Thank you all for loaning them to us - even if it was for such a brief time.

Marching Tuba 4 sale - tuned in G

This tuba is in good playing condition, according to a recent examination by a tuba professional (30+ years playing experience, incl. master's degree in tuba from top-notch music conservatory).

It's easy to fall in love with it and so did I. However, I shouldn't have since it's not suitable for a bloody greenhorn on tubas as I am one (that's what the pro confirmed, that the tuba is not suitable for complete beginners but good for people with some proficiency).

I wish someone gets interested who can really benefit from this beautiful instrument and enjoy its fabulous sound.

Some facts:
3 valves, great mouthpiece, silver color, case included. No repair or refurnishing is required (also, according to the pro).
Given that I am willing to pay some apprentice's fees ("Lehrgeld"), taking into account the price of a new instrument and the good shape of this piece I imagine that it's worth 920,- Euro.

Anyway, some detailed text below in German; at the bottom some quotes by musicians, in English:
http://www.drumcorpstalk.com/community/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=112

Tuba Dynasty DEG in G Willson Weiterbau - Schultertuba / Marching Tuba

Some quotes:

-- DEG just uses some Willson parts for the horns, and they are a definite improvement over the old parts they had before.

-- I have known for some time that DEG Music had ownership over Willson, but I didn't know that it had made the Dynasty model marching tubas by converting Willson tubas. To say the least, the effect done is remarkable. The horn has a big sound that is phenomenal. The tuning is top notch, and it's just fun to play. [...] the range on it is awesome. Highly recommended for a marching unit if sousaphones are not an option and you have enough dough to purchase a few. Expensive to say the least, but worth every penny.
